The Gospel according to Luke is the longest and most thorough account of Jesus’ life that we have. A key attribute of this gospel is the way Jesus is portrayed interacting with people of all kinds of backgrounds and walks of life, and showing them that he’s come to seek and save the lost. Jesus truly is for everyone.
Reflection Questions:
- In what ways have you been hurt by religious people who have pushed you away from God through their practice and rules, and how can God’s presence and Word in this passage bring healing to these areas of your heart?
- Are there areas in your life where you feel God’s word is a heavy burden? Can you use this passage as a guide to take up his “light” burden and prioritize my relationship with him?
- In what areas am I prone to build up my own set of extra-biblical rules and impose them on others?
- Are there people I need to repent to for whom I have been a hindrance to them entering the Kingdom by my religious uppity attitude or self-aggrandizement?
