Why Communion?

Why Communion?

Jesus said, “I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” We still believe Jesus’s promise, but so many, professing Christians included, are walking away from the church altogether. If we want to see Jesus’s church continue to thrive, we must remember the why behind the church’s importance. In this series, we explore six key elements of our weekly gathering and the necessary roles they play in our faith. Reflection Questions:

  • What things symbolized by the Lord’s Supper have received new emphasis in your thinking after today’s message? Do you feel more eager to participate in the Lord’s Supper now than before this message? Why?
  • In what ways (if any) will you approach the Lord’s Supper differently now?
  • Which of the things symbolized in the Lord’s Supper is most encouraging to your Christian life right now?
